CHALLENGING DAY HIKE 18.0 miles 1,000' elevation gain
best season: Pacific Crest Trail thru
hikers do this northbound in July. Don't do it that way.
Go southbound in fall when the weather is cool and fresh, and enjoy
your wide-open views as you descend 4,300' from the Trinity Divide to
the base of Castle Crags. There are views of everything:
